Paula E. (Tagan) Mayer, 83, of Holliston, passed away April 12, 2016, in the company of her sons, Robert and William, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born in Waltham, she graduated from Brighton High School.

After graduating from high school, Paula raised her family as a single parent while working full time for over twenty-five years as a test technician for AT&T in the Framingham office. Her strong work ethic and commitment to supporting her children set a great example for others to emulate. Paula enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and golfing, hiking, and performing volunteer work for SMOC and the Holliston Senior Center in her retirement, living in both Sandwich and Holliston, Mass. Paula loved to cheer for her sons as they ran in numerous Boston marathons over the last forty years.

Beloved mother of William H. Mayer and his wife Cynthia of Holliston, Michael Mayer of West Palm Beach, Robert Mayer of Ashland, and Jacqueline Rossini and her husband Joseph of Holliston. Grandmother of her late grandson Justin Mayer, and his two brothers Jonathan Mayer, and Alex Mayer of Holliston, Michael Mayer of Nashua, NH, Julia Rossini of Holliston, and Noah Mayer and Amanda Mayer of Florida. She also leaves behind her brother, Francis X. Tagan of Harwichport as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by several loving brothers and sisters.

Paula was very thankful for the support from Doctors Hoffman, Ernst, and Cua during her illness – with a special thanks to the team of hospice care takers at Oak Knoll in Framingham, Mass.

Visitation will take place on Thursday April 14, from 4-7 p.m. at the Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston, 854 Washington St. (Rt. 16) www.chesmorefuneralhome.com. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, April 15, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Mary’s Church in Holliston. A burial service for immediate family members will follow in the parish cemetery.
