U.S. Veteran

Share your Memorial with Family & Friends

Dear Family and Friends, I'm sorry for your loss. I just wanted to leave you with an encouraging scripture that has helped me deal with the loss of a loved one. It is found in the Bible Book of Palm 34:18 here God assures us that He is near to those broken at heart and crushed in spirit.

Louie was the radio operator and my dad, from Pennsylvania, the waist gunner on that WW II B-17. They were together through all 30 missions and prison camp together, continuing to always stay in touch afterward. Later, Louie stayed in touch with me for many years until now. I have cherished this connection and his friendship. A more kind and thoughtful person would be difficult to find. He has left a beautiful legacy in his family and his many deeds. I will miss him.

John, Polly and all the Paltrineri's: we were saddened by the news of Lou's passing. He was a terrific person with an amazing smile and always something engaging to talk about. He will be missed for sure not only by family but by the greater Holliston community. He and I(steve) talked at length about his service and his group of POW's. We had a friend in common from that group. May a life time of happy and solid memories help to heal the sorry you feel. Louie, rest in peace.

Louie gave me my first job working at Fiske's when I was 14. I was so nervous asking for the job that when he asked me what 10% of something was I couldn't answer. He gave me the job anyway. I have such fond memories working with Louie and his family at Fiske's. My children, now 16 and 14, always visited Fiske's when they went to visit Grandma. It was their favorite part of any visit to Holliston. He was such a generous man with a kind heart. He will be dearly missed.

You are in my prayers, as you would also be in my husband Gordon's. Love and deepest sympathy to you Treva and your family at this very sad time.

My heartfelt condolences to the Paltrineri family. Lou was a wonderful man, and Fiske's was (& is) a wonderful store that I enjoyed as well as my kids. They simply don't make them like Lou anymore, and we are all the poorer for it.

As a kid growing up in Holliston it was a big deal, for a young boy, on his bicycle to travel Winter St then onto Washington St finally arriving downtown. The destination was always Fiske's General Store. I would spend hours in Fiske's looking at the WWII airplane models, buying Mad Magazine and penny candy. After earning lawn mowing money I couldn't pedal fast enough to finally purchase the model airplane I had my eye on. When I carried that aircraft waiting to be built to the counter it was always Louie, with a smile, behind the counter handling the transaction. He was Louie, the guy at Fiske's everyone liked. Now a grown man with much more life experience, he is larger than life itself. As kids we are so self absorbed, little did I know I was purchasing that WWII model aircraft from a decorated B17 crewman and POW of that war. The very thing that obsessed my thoughts, day in and day out as a boy, and all that time the real hero was standing in front of me downtown at Fiske's. Louie you were always someone I enjoyed seeing in your store and as I grew through high school we had a few very short conversations that were always pleasant. I just wish I could have thanked you then for your service to our country. Thanks Louie for your service to our country and all of Holliston those years we enjoyed your presence at Fiske's. God Bless you and your family, I am praying for eternal peace for you and peace for all your friends and family.

Dear Treva and Family, I am deeply saddened by Lou's passing. Please know that Lou, you and your entire extended family are in my thoughts. Lou was one of the nicest and classiest gentlemen I have ever met and I am so proud to call him a true and loving friend. You and Lou were their to help me get through my grief when my Ingrid passed. May I offer you something a friend told me to help me deal with my grief, and it did. May it do the same for you. "When someone you love becomes a memory that memory becomes a treasure". May you and your family find peace. Love, Peter

From Denmark we would like to send our condolences – we will always have Louis with us in our memories. Louis, Treva and the whole Paltrineri family have been friends to us for a long time – and “American grandparents” to our daughter, Viktoria. Our relationship has been special as it connects back to 1994 when Viktoria had leukemia. A bone marrow donor was looked for in the whole world. At the same time Ian, a great-grandchild of Louis and Treva, also got leukemia – and the Paltrineri family in Holliston with all their energy and love managed to arrange that several hundred people in the local society could donate a blood sample and be tested to be possible bone marrow donors. The family had the deep sorrow to loose Ian, but one of the local inhabitants of Holliston, Ed McLellan, turned out to be a bone marrow match for Viktoria in Denmark. And back in 1996, when she was six, she had a bone marrow transplant and survived. Today she is 25 and studies to be a teacher and two summers ago she and her boyfriend Lau luckily managed to go to Holliston together and visited Louis and Treva. The hospitality we have met in the home of Louis and Treva has been incredible, warmhearted and with a lot of joy and humor. We feel very sad that Louis now has passed away but also very lucky and grateful to have known such a wonderful person and that we still are attached to his whole family.
