New Hampshire-
Jo Ann (Phelps) Hughes of Sandown, New Hampshire passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2014 surrounded by all of her children at home. She was born in Little Bend Kentucky, to Beatrice (Shepherd) Phelps and John (Cat) Phelps in 1934. Jo Ann was predeceased by brothers Marcus Phelps, Johnny Phelps, Forrest Phelps, and sisters Juanita Phelps, and Jeanette (Phelps) Vincent. She is survived by brother Donald Quiggins of Georgia, sisters Geneva (Phelps) Stanley of Kentucky, and Frances (Phelps) Bratcher of Tennessee who, had just visited Jo Ann in September of 2013.

Jo Ann came to Massachusetts in 1951 and married Paul J. Hughes of Waltham MA in 1952. Jo Ann & Paul raised and are survived by ten children; Wayne Hughes and his wife Linda, Wanda (Hughes) MacLean and her husband James, Brenda (Hughes) Blair and her husband Robert, Ann Hughes, Gary Hughes and his wife DeoLinda, Thomas Hughes and his wife Michelle, Paul Hughes, Janet (Hughes) Wallace and her husband Dean, Francis Hughes and his wife Alison, Scott Hughes and his wife Colleen. Mrs. Hughes lost her husband Paul in 1975, and continued to raise her children in Holliston.

Jo Ann was also blessed with seventeen grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren (and growing with each year).

In addition to her love of family, Jo Ann was passionate about cooking, making jelly, camping, fishing, music, reading, quilting, and was a very skilled seamstress. All of these were passed onto her family; who will continue to enjoy each of these talents and gifts for years to come.

Jo Ann was laid to rest in a private service at the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Holliston. Her memory may be honored by making contributions to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation at www.pulmonaryfibrosis.org. Arrangements under the care of the Chesmore Funeral Home.
