David Cronin, 60, of Athol and former longtime Sherborn resident passed away Tuesday, February 27th 2024. Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Gail (Murphy) and Robert J. Cronin.

David was a 1981 graduate of Dover-Sherborn High School. He worked at the Grover Cronin Department store in Waltham, MA before starting a career as computer repair specialist, making house calls which showcased his calm and patient personality. He loved animals, especially cats.

David enjoyed being outdoors and watching the natural world around him. He was knowledgeable about most things, flora and fauna. He could often be found wandering outside, identifying the various plants and animals wherever he might be. He was a disc golf player and enjoyed being with friends playing around the New England area. He was a Saab automobile enthusiast and traveled to several Saab owners conventions including traveling to WA state in 2004 with his brother Peter as co-driver in a 1968 Saab 95 wagon, a 10 day trip of over 7000 miles with Saab related stops along the route.

He leaves his siblings, Suzanne (Nicki) Maitland and husband Kenneth Young of Ashburnham, MA, Peter (Greg) Maitland and his partner June Peckingham of Upton, MA and Rob and Andrea Cronin of Buzzards Bay, MA, Johanna Cronin and her partner Rory Williamson of FL, Diana (Cronin) and husband Philip Fiorino of MA. He was a loving uncle to his nieces and nephews Peter R. Maitland of Manchester NH, and Michael Maitland of Portland, OR,  Nicole Corbo of Santa Fe, NM and Cavan Cronin of Buzzards Bay, MA, Ava Fiorino of MA, and Elsa Cronin of FL.

Visitation will be held at Chesmore Funeral Home on Friday, March 8th from 2-4 p.m at Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston, 854 Washington St. A celebration of life event will be scheduled for David at a future date, most likely at the Dover Legion Hall.

Please dress casually as that’s what David wanted. The family would appreciate anybody with memories or pictures of David to take the time to share them with his family and friends at this time.
