William E. Whalen, 91, of Holliston died Thursday October 2, 2003 at the Metrowest Medical Center in Framingham. Born in Boston he was the son of the late Lawrence Whalen and Rena (DeRoche) Whalen. William was the husband of the late Mary (Oliver) Whalen who died in Aug. of 1984

A Veteran of WW II where he was a Sergeant in the Army. Later he was employed by Polaroid Corp. for 14 years and then retired in 1974. William was one of 10 children, still enjoyed playing card with his bothers and sisters and traveling.

William is survived by his Daughter Michelle Meredith and husband Jerry of Holliston; 3 granddaughters Kimberly Ann, Kristen Mary, and Katelyn Lois Meredith of Holliston, 2 Brothers; Donald Whalen of Marlborough and Vincent Whalen of Newton, 2 Sisters; Georgina Goinsolvas and Theresa Crowley both of Newton. He also is survived by many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by 3 brothers; Lawrence Whalen Jr., Anthony Whalen, and Edward Whalen, 2 sisters; Mary Whalen and Mildred Gibson

Visitation hours will be held on Sunday October 5, 2003 from 4 to 7 PM at the Chesmore Funeral Home, 854 Washington St. (Rt. 16) Holliston, MA 01746. A funeral mass will take place on Monday October 6, 2003 at 10:00 AM in Saint Mary’s Church of Holliston. Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery in Waltham.
