Raymond James Dunn, 83, formerly of Allston and Newton, passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2023. Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Florence G. (Stafford) and Raymond F. Dunn. He was the husband of the late Barbara Flavin.

Ray worked as a carpenter and was a long-standing member of the Carpenter’s Union Local 40. He worked on many buildings in Boston and helped create the skyline. He enjoyed fishing and visiting his favorite beaches in Newport and Plum Island in the family Winnebago. In the 70’s and 80’s he was a coach for Newton Youth Hockey and the Suburban Youth Hockey League.

Ray is survived by his children, Raymond J. Dunn III and his wife, Debra of Holliston, Charis Dunn of Quincy, Brian Dunn and his wife, Jodi of Medway, Charlotte Buie and her husband Derek of Upper Vaughan, Nova Scotia, and Douglas Dunn and his wife, Amy of St. Augustine, FL. He also leaves behind 6 grandchildren, Tyler, Devin, Morgan, Skylar, Penelope and Adelaide; two brothers, Ronald Dunn of Nashua, NH, and Bobby Dunn and his wife, Janice of Allston, sister-in-law, Diane Dunn of Milton, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his son, Lloyd Dunn; siblings, Florence and her husband Leo McCusker, Barbara Kiddie and her husband Robert, Mary Reilly, and Ricky Dunn as well as his late spouse, Deborah (Webb) Dunn.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 26th from 1:00-4:00 at Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston, 854 Washington St. Private burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
