I cannot say that I knew Dr. Boudrieau particularly well. I was a veterinary student at Tufts (graduated 2017), and had him has a professor for our orthopedics class, as well as worked with him briefly during my clinical rotations. However, I have very fond memories of him, and was deeply moved when I heard about his passing. Dr. Boudrieau always struck me as extremely erudite, and having now read his obituary, I can see that I was not mistaken. He was a captivating yet somehow also reserved lecturer, and I distinctly remember being mesmerized by a talk of his at a local AVMA conference. The sharpest memory I have, however, is of him performing some form of never-before-seen orthopedic surgery, giggling to himself with childish delight, as he constructed this Erector-Set-like contraption on a German Shepherd with non-healing wounds. Perhaps he reminded me of my own now-deceased grandfather (himself an orthopedic surgeon, although specializing in the "two-legged" variety of animals), someone who, too, was steeped in cultural knowledge, being an avid lover of classic music and opera, and as well relished in the physical nature of his craft. I hope to attend Dr. Boudrieau's Celebration in 2024.

It is impossible to capture in a few sentences the significance Randy has had in my life, but I will try. Firstly, Randy has been the greatest source of professional inspiration I could have dreamed of, but he also became an unwavering support in every step of my career. I know I wouldn't be the vet surgeon I am without him, and he will always continue to inspire me and remind me of the right path. Randy has not only been an incredibly inspiring and caring mentor, but he became an adopted and adopting father at the exact moment I needed it. Randy will always be in my heart, as will all those he guided with so much joy. Leslie, I hope to see you soon to laugh together at his dear jokes. Sophie

I was so sorry to learn about Randy's passing. We had worked together over the years building Tufts University's veterinary school. We could have friendly arguments sometimes but we both knew we had the same long-term goals to help our students and residents become the best they could be and advance the profession wherever we could. Randy and I shared a love of skiing, and he came to the ski house we rented as a group. We also shared along with you Leslie a love of our dogs, whether large like yours or smaller like mine. Like you Leslie, I lost my husband after 33 years of marriage, and we can now look back on wonderful times together. Wishing you peace and great memories of your time with Randy. Love, Sue
