Nancy Parsons,79, passed away peacefully on July 16th, 2019, after waging a courageous battle against ovarian cancer.
Nancy participated fully in her medical care with providers at both Newton-Wellesley Hospital and Dana Farber Cancer Institute of Boston. She regularly expressed gratitude for, and faith in, her team of doctors and nurses, including Dr. Jeffrey Wisch and Dr. Susan Schumer, along with their dedicated and compassionate teams.
Nancy was born and raised in Pennsylvania by loving parents. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Allegheny College and completed her Masters in French at the Sorbonne in Paris with Middlebury. She later obtained her teaching certification and taught for almost 48 years. Nancy began teaching French in elementary schools, and then moved to New England, where she met and married her husband, Bill. She taught french at the high school level initially, and later focused on tutoring French at a private school for the arts. Nancy was asked to expand her services to include tutoring international students in their humanities courses; many of these students also struggled with the English language. Nancy loved this work and the students she worked with. It was also a treat for her to attend their performances, art openings and recitals. In 1976, she connected with a local women’s french conversation group, who still meet regularly to maintain their language speaking skills. Through this group, Nancy developed many strong friendships that brought her great joy for the rest of her life.
She leaves behind 2 daughters, many dear relatives and friends. Services will be planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, her girls encourage you to consider donating your time, baked goods, flowers, or services, in her honor, to Care Dimensions Hospice House of Lincoln, MA. Arrangements are under the care of the Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston.
