Melanie G. Vertuca, 80, of Holliston, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on September 5, 2023. Born and raised in Jamestown, New York, she was the daughter of the late Constance “Connie” and Herbert “Duke” Lord. She was the beloved wife of 56 years to the late Joseph Vertuca.

Melanie worked in medical billing and started her own medical billing company. Her business provided employment and autonomy for her family, allowing them to be home for their families. In her younger years, she loved biking and cross-country skiing. She enjoyed vacationing with her family, especially to Cape Cod. She was generous, funny, a loyal confidant, and she was always there for her loved ones. Most important to Melanie was her family and her grandchildren were her most precious relationships. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. When Melanie became ill, her family was able to care for her after years of caring for them, which they were honored to do.

Melanie is survived by her children, Lori Vertuca of Holliston, Kimberly Harris and her husband, Michael of Auburn, and David Vertuca and his wife, Paula of Franklin. She also leaves behind her brother, Dick Lord and his wife, Paula of Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Danielle and Hanna Harris, Stephanie Kuzio and Nathan Vertuca; a great-grandson, Graham Kuzio, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 9th from 10:00-11:30 a.m. at the Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston, 854 Washington St. Burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Autism Speaks, https://www.autismspeaks.org/?form=donate  The family wishes to express their thanks to the PCAs that cared for Melanie, most currently, Vanessa, as we couldn’t have done it without her dedicated and compassionate care.

A Mass in Melanie’s name will be held on Sunday, October 22nd at 11:30 a.m. at Saint Mary’s Church of Holliston.
