Lawrence (“Laury”) Whiting Bliss was surrounded by his family when he died in the early morning of March 14, 2015 after a long battle with cancer. He was 69 years old.

Laury was born on March 20, 1945 and grew up in Holliston. He was the third son of the late Allan R. and Edith (Lamont) Bliss. He was a graduate of the Holliston High School Class of 1963 and, thereafter, served honorably in the United States Air Force and was a veteran of the Vietnam war. Laury was also a proud friend of Bill W. for well over a decade. He was an avid reader, a lover of music, baseball, old cars, traveling, and spending time with his wife and family. A huge sports fan, Laury was a passionate and life long supporter of the Red Sox and Patriots.

He is survived by his loving wife Cathy A. (Lefebvre) Bliss of Lowell and formerly of Holliston, his son Philip J. Bliss (wife Heather Bliss) of Hopkinton, his daughter Paula S. Bliss (husband Terrence M. Schwab) of Natick and two grandchildren Edward Bliss Schwab and Maya Kathryn Schwab. He also leaves behind two older brothers Donald Bliss of Blackstone and David Bliss of Yulee, Florida, in addition to many nieces and nephews.

A very special thank you to all of the amazing doctors and nurses who cared for Laury (and his family) in his final days at the Edith Nourse Rogers Veterans Hospital Hospice Center in Bedford, Massachusetts.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 20th from 5-8p.m. at the Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston, www.ChesmoreFuneralHome.com A service will take place in the funeral home on Saturday at 10:30a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Wounded Warrior Project would be graciously appreciated.
