Joseph James Gallerani, 87, of Holliston, passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2023. Born in Milford, he was the son of the late Ida (Foglio) and Joseph Gallerani. He was the beloved husband of 40 years to Mary (Halloran) Gallerani of Holliston.
Joe served in the United States Army from 1958-1960. He was a member of the Army baseball teams. He took pleasure in bowling and softball and was in leagues in both sports for many years. He owned and operated his own small appliance repair shop in Holliston. Most notably, Joe was a retired Deputy Chief of the Holliston Fire Department. Although he retired from fire suppression duties and responsibilities in the early 2000s, he continued to serve as a first responder driver on the ambulance until just a few months ago. For more than five decades, he faithfully served the Holliston community.
Besides his wife, Joe is survived by his children, Sharon O’Brien and her husband, Richard of Holliston, and Joseph Gallerani and his wife, Jill of Uxbridge. He also leaves behind his grandson, Michael O’Brien; step-daughter, Charlene Goodrow and family of Whitinsville, Pamela Brackett and family of Coward, SC; as well as two nieces, Karen Fino and family, and Donna Leon and family. He is predeceased by his son, Keith Gallerani; his grandson, Jake Gallerani and his sister, Claire Iannatlli and her husband, Louie.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 10th from 2:00-5:00 p.m. at the Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston, 854 Washington St. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, December 11th at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Mary’s Church of Holliston. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Milford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Holliston Fire and Ambulance Fund, 59 Central St. Holliston, MA 01746.
