John F. (Jack) Hyland, 89, of Holliston, passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2023. Born in Worcester, he was the son of the late Ann G. (Sullivan) Hyland and Arthur R. Hyland. He was the husband of 40 years to the late Gael (Donoghue) Hyland who passed away in 1999.

Jack was a 1951 graduate of Worcester South High School and a 1955 graduate of College of the Holy Cross. He proudly served in the Army from 1956- 1958 and spent time in Korea from 1957-1958, and was in the active reserves until 1960.

He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time surrounded by his children and grandchildren at holiday gatherings; especially the traditional Christmas Eve party at his home in Holliston. Jack has been a member of Saint Mary’s Church in Holliston since he moved to town in 1969. During his time in Holliston, he taught CCD and helped create the CYO basketball program, directing the local league for several years. He was the longtime treasurer for the Holliston High School Father’s Club and its change to the Parent’s Club.

He has been an ardent follower of Holy Cross athletics since 1940. Over the last twenty years, he was an avid, but hardly good golfer and member at Pinecrest Golf Club in Holliston. He cherished summer vacations with his family and dear friends from New York for the last 40+ years. He was a frequent traveler throughout the US, Canada, and Europe- making 5 trips to Ireland. He is now at peace and reuniting with his beloved wife, Gael.

Jack is survived by four children, Mary A. Hyland of Framingham, Jack Hyland(Beth) of Uxbridge, Mike Hyland (Tammy) of Mendon, and Kate Warren (Phil) of Natick. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Heather and John Hyland, and Ashley and Alison Warren.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 19th from 9:00-10:30 a.m. at the Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston, 854 Washington St. A funeral Mass will be celebrated following the visitation in Saint Mary’s Church, Holliston. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, and in support of his oldest daughter, Mary, the family requests donations be made to the Tim Tebow Foundation, timtebowfoundation.org
