James R. Cardell, 74, of Holliston, passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2023. Born in East Orange, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Yola (Cantalupo) and Theodore Cardell. He was the beloved husband of Linda C. (Stenger) Cardell of Holliston for 51 years.

Jimmy was raised in West Orange, New Jersey. While studying music at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA, he met and married Linda. After completing his Master’s degree in Computer Science at Temple University, Jimmy and Linda moved to Holliston in 1981. While working as a Senior Software Engineer, Jimmy also completed his MBA at Clark University.  

While computer science was his vocation, Jimmy’s passion was music. He played a number of instruments including violin, viola, bass, and acoustic guitar, and sang in Masterworks Chorale, the New World Chorale, and played in Symphony Pro Musica. 

In addition to his wife, Jimmy is survived by his two children, Ben Cardell and wife, Erin of Wallingford, PA, and Lena Cardell and partner, Alex Elias of Mountain View, CA. He also leaves behind his brothers, Will Cardell of Summit, NJ, and Ted Cardell of Tokyo, Japan, and his two grandchildren, Pete and Maddie Cardell.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 17th from 10:30-12:30 pm at the Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston, 854 Washington St.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Holliston Food Pantry (www.hollistonpantryshelf.org).
