Hopkinton-

Hannelore Elisabet Scanlon Morin, 80, of Hopkinton, passed away Monday, December 21, 2020 following complications of Covid-19. Born in Walldurn, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Ottilia (Mackert) and Rudolf Lohlein. She was the wife of the late George B. Morin.

Hannelore came to America in 1960 as a young bride. She immersed herself in classes to learn English and become a teacher… all while raising 3 children and working nights in a Woonsocket shoe factory. Once she became a teacher, Hanni spent her career dedicated to her students. Not only did she teach at St. Clare High School and then at Woonsocket High School, but she also helped develop curriculum in other high schools around the country. Hanni took great pride in educating her students and enriching their lives through learning. Hanni also had a great love for animals and there was always a sweet dog by her side. She was an incredible gardener with a gift for drawing the beautiful blossoms in her garden.  In retirement, she became an accomplished pastel artist and sold some of her works in art galleries.

Hannelore is survived by three daughters, Helga Tate and her husband, Scott of Hopkinton, MA.  Heide Fenste and her husband, Joe of CT, and Lori Lisa Beg of Virginia. She also leaves behind her siblings, Gertrud Bilyeau of Savannah, GA;  Maria Martin and her husband, Manfred of Germany; and Georg Lohlein of Germany.  She is predeceased by her brother, Karlheinz Lohlein.  She will be missed by her 7 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
