Ellen F. Carroll, 76, of Westborough and formerly of Holliston and Osterville, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 26, 2024, at UMass Memorial Hospital in Worcester with her beloved husband of 45 years, Potter (Hess) Carroll, by her side.

Born in Cohoes, New York, Ellen was the daughter of the late Elizabeth and John Frandsen. She was one of five children and is survived by her siblings Mary Beth Sankowski, Joanne Paulett, Peter Frandsen, and Tom Frandsen. Ellen attended nursing school at the Mary Fletcher Hospital School of Nursing graduating in 1968 and worked for many years as a nurse in the cardiac ICU at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

Ellen was a devoted mother to her daughters, Madeline Murray of Hopkinton and Johanna Carroll of Mississauga ON. She loved spending time with her family and friends including her daughters’ spouses Keefe and Andreas, grandchildren Isla, James and Clara, and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

An avid gardener who could spend hours outside amongst her flowers, Ellen was a former member of both the Osterville and Holliston garden clubs. Always on the lookout for unique additions to her beautiful flower arrangements, Ellen loved having her children and grandchildren join her on quests to find acorns, pinecones, and shells to include.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Alzheimer’s Association, whose mission to end Alzheimer’s Ellen would have wholeheartedly supported https://www.alz.org/get-involved-now/donate

Private family arrangements are being held and are under the care of the Chesmore Funeral Home.
