Obituaries

To Charlotte's family, I express deep condolences at your loss. I knew her in college, and then became intensely reaquainted over the past year as we worked together on our Juniata College 50th Reunion committee. Char had such energy and conviction about her work with the Charter school library, her family, her travels. I picked her up at the Baltimore airport for the long drive to Huntingdon, PA, and along the way up and back, with another classmate, Linda Ronning Terry in the car, we exchanged life stories. Char slept in our house in Rockville MD coming and going. All the travelling did not stop her from bouncing up Saturday morning to check out our local Rockville Library! When Char heard about my husband and my work as journalists in Kenya and South Africa, there was immediate connection because she had visited Tanzania where one of her children was working - and where we had travelled in the 1970s and 1990s. In December, she sent me a gift of three beautiful Tanzanian tapestries from her collection. I was very moved at her thoughtfulness. I called her, and she said she took pleasure in giving them.- We pieced together various pieces of the puzzle that each of us had about our year in Europe, when she drove up from Spain to visit me and other Juniata classmates in Marburg, Germany. Together, we called other classmates. I am so blessed to have had this little bit of time with her. It was sadly all too short. Sincerely, Pat Reber
