Alfred Francis Hughes, 66, of Hopkinton died unexpectedly on June 20, 2007 at Mass. General Hospital in Boston. Born in Waltham, he was the son of the late Francis and Anna J. (Sanders) Hughes.

Mr Hughes had worked in Mass General Hospital as an Operation Room Nurse and Supervisor for 35 years before he retired. A lifelong resident of Hopkinton, Mr. Hughes was a member of the Hopkinton Historical Society, a 7th Degree member of the Hopkinton Grange, and was active with the Hopkinton Senior Center. He also wan an avid baseball fan and bird watcher.

He is survived by 4 Brothers: Thomas J. Hughes of Blaine, Washington, Barnett Hughes of Concord, NH, David M. Hughes of Northbridge, Michael C. Hughes of Honolulu, Hawaii, 5 sisters: Barbara A.A. Ovalle of Lake Wales, Fl., Martha L. Hughes Main of Narragansett, RI, Lydia M. Sheahan of Hopkinton, MA, Fran Hughes Cote of Natick, MA and Paula M Hughes of Goshen, NH. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.
