I met Sandra (she was called Seena ) in the fall of 1960 at Anna Maria college. I was a transfer student . My senior year which was her junior year we had such a wonderful group of women at our end of our hall. Carol Botens Consigli, Kathy Flanagan Armata , Joyce shiel Suzie McCauley Maureen McManus, Maryann lavigne. Angela Santa Lucia Kathy Minehan bunny Bense and myself. We had such fun and whenever we saw each over the years which was not enough we enjoyed each other. Seems was the best and such a wonderful person. Loved your Dad as well. Spent many happy times with both of them. Your mom called me Sully. Be well and cherish the memories. Mary Sullivan Henry

Words can not express the sorrow felt in losing such a caring, loving and beautiful lady like your mom. Her lifetime of dedication to others as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, outstanding educator, friend and citizen have touched the lives of many in countless ways. May God keep you and your family in his hands during your time of sorrow.

My heart sank when I heard this profoundly sad news. Mrs. Darney, Sandra, was such an awesome teacher, woman, colleague and inspiration to those that were lucky enough to know her. Both my boys, Bobby and Mike had the pleasure and good fortune to have her as a Social Studies teacher. Sandra was able to pull the best out of all of her students, helping them reach their true potential as students, and instilled an paralleled respect for her and the student community. Mrs. Darney was old school with a modern twist, I will miss her deeply, but know in my heart, that she is at peace and with Fred. Although she is physically gone from this earth, we all can call her to the present through wonderful memories, ... Peace be with you and your family. Gail, Bob, Bobby, Mike, Dobinski

To the Darney family, I was surprised and saddened to read of your mothers passing. On Friday for no apparent reason, your mother, Mrs. Darney came into my thoughts. I hadn't seen her in years but she was all three of my children's teacher (Sean, Christopher and Alyssa). I used to bump into her at Collella's once in awhile. While my daughter Alyssa was a student in her class, my nephew passed away at 19 years old unexpectedly. We had to leave for NJ to attend the wake and funeral and your mother made a point of calling me and sending me a card and checked up on me to see how I was doing and asked what SHE could do to help my daughter in her grieving. I never forgot that and that is possibly why she was in my thoughts the other day - in January it was 10 years since my nephew passed. I never forgot her caring about me at such a low point and how she was my kids "favorite" teacher. She helped them become life long learners!! My kids always said it was Mrs. Darney who helped them learn how to study. I'm so sorry for your loss - she must have been an amazing mother and to have had her as yours - you are truly blessed. May your memories sustain you in this time of utter sadness.

Peg and I are so saddened at the passing of a great friend. Sandra was one of the first people to welcome me to Hopkinton years ago as a teacher and co-worker. Her laugh, dedication to the students she taught, and genuine caring personality towards all people will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Our loss is Heaven's gain....as it has gained another Angel this week.

Sandra Darney was a class act all the way! She was my mentor in my first years of teaching and I couldn't have asked for a better role model. She was there for me as a teacher, as a friend, and often as a second mother! My deepest sympathy to Sarah, her family, and her brother. You will all be in my thoughts and prayers.

How I will miss my friend and our lengthy phone conversations. We have spent so much time together over the past few weeks while you were recovering from your surgery and shared so-o-o laughs. I will never enter CVS without thinking of you and your prescription and "sales" needs. Fred received the best birthday present ever with your passing! He had to be waiting for you with open arms. Sarah, Phil, Will and Anya - how she loved you all. You brought her so much happiness. Remember the good times you shared with her and she will remain forever in your hearts.

Sarah and Stephen, I am very sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. The memories of us all growing up together in the neighborhood still remain fresh. To this day I remember being in the back seat of your mom's VW Beetle as she drove us to CCD. May God bless her soul. She will be missed in this life.

Sarah and Phil: Our hearts are broken to learn of Sandra's passing. She seemed to be doing so much better at Christmastime. Sandra was such a wonderful friend and co-worker, every summer since 1984(?)! We all shared so many fun memories and laughter over the years. Sandra will be missed by so many of us, of all ages. The entire staff of Pirates Cove and Pirates Cove Marketplace extend our sympathies to you. Work will always be a little dimmer without her smile and sense of humor, and funny customer stories. We also miss Fred bringing Will and Anya over to play golf and have an ice cream. Loving memories and prayers to you and your family.

Mrs. Darney was so welcoming to me when I started teaching in Hopkinton 15 years ago. She invited me into her classroom (then at Hopkins), and I was in awe of her teaching skills. I could only hope that one day I could rise to her level. I'm still working on that. Sandra was a true lady in every sense of the word. You have my sympathies.

Sarah, Phil, Stephen, and Kathy, I am so saddened by the passing of your mother and my friend. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers. Your mom was my first partner when I started teaching 6th grade in Hopkinton in 1988. She has remained a dear friend all these years. My son, Justin, loved her as a teacher who had fun with her students, treated them with respect, and expected the best from them. I will miss getting home and hearing on my answering machine, "It's me, Darling. Call me when you have time."

I am praying for the family during this sad and difficult time. I have fond memories of working with Sandra during her time at the Middle School. She was always referrred to the "Queen" and even after she retired and came back to substitute teach, I had a parking sticker for her that read "The Queen " is teaching today!! I;m sure she will be the "Queen" in the heavens above as well.

Please accept our sincerest sympathies. We were so sad and shocked to hear of Sandra's passing. It seems not too long ago, we were having a wonderful conversation at the Middle School and catching up with each other. Not only will I miss her as a colleague whom I so enjoyed working with, but also as a mom to one of her former 6th grade social studies students. My son, Marc, always referred to Mrs. Darney as "one of my favorite teachers." She was a wonderful person and she will be dearly missed.
