Howard “Johnny” Stone, 73, of Holliston, passed away at his home on Sunday, June 15, 2025. Born in Kew Gardens, New York, he was the son of the late Denise (Blitz) and Herbert Stone. He was the beloved husband of 48 years to Amy-Jo (Seltzer) Stone.
Howard Jonathan Stone- and to all who knew him, “Johnny.” Johnny will always be remembered as a complicated, intelligent, strong family man. He was passionate about all animals deserving safety and a home. His best furry friend, Bernard Francis Stone (aka Bernie), crossed the rainbow bridge on May 27, 2025. Bernie was a rescue beagle from a laboratory. Johnny was an enthusiastic fan of 50’s music and had to know the history of the artists. Minute details about each musician fascinated him. Johnny was a math whiz and could figure out the most difficult of equations in record time. He was an avid walker and deeply rooted in the Holliston community. He would stop and chat with all who would listen and beam, talking about his beloved children and grandchildren. He told everyone his wife was the best cook in the world. Johnny fought courageously during his battle with brain cancer with a sense of humor and (Jewish) grit. He is now at peace, but will be fiercely missed by many.
In addition to his wife, Johnny is survived by two children, Denise Stone of Holliston and Spencer Stone of Milford. He also leaves behind his sisters, Rosemary Wise and her husband, Bob, of Florida, Beth Kim and her husband, Joachim, of New York, and Kathy Davis and her husband, Bob, of Florida; two grandchildren, Quinn Stone Bergh and Margo Stone Bergh; as well as many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother, Kenneth Stone, who passed as an infant.
A funeral service will take place on Thursday, June 19th at 11:00 a.m. at Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston, 854 Washington St. Burial will follow in Lake Grove Cemetery in Holliston.
