Fords, NJ-

Regina (Swanick) Lane, 89, passed away peacefully at her daughter and son-in-law’s house in Massachusetts on February 14th. Jean grew up in Fords, NJ and was the daughter of Joseph and Ann (Bayok) Swanick. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Perth Amboy and Middlesex Community College.

In 1948, she married George Lane and raised their family of three children in Fords. Jean worked for years in the Woodbridge Township as a teacher’s aide and had many stories to tell of her days working in the schools. In her retirement, she continued to give back to the community and volunteered to read poetry to young students in Perth Amboy. She also taught English as a second language to foreign students in Woodbridge. Jean always loved her garden and her flowers. She owned a business called ?Laney Bugs of Fords’ in which she would sell homemade pressed flower pictures at local shops and craft fairs. She was always an artist, and loved to sketch and write poems to her family. Jean always kept up with puzzles and reading to fill her time and she had a wonderful way with words. In recent years, Jean participated in a ?Let’s Talk’ group at the Evergreen Senior Center. She enjoyed playing board games and hosting luncheons for her friends.

She leaves behind her daughter Maureen (Lane) Korson, son-in-law Michael, son in law Antonio Bagatta, her three beloved grandchildren, Giorgio Bagatta, Lauren (Korson) Forcello and Patrick Korson, and her three great-granddaughters Giordan and Jeannie Bagatta and Audrey Forcello. She was predeceased by her parents, sister Dorothy Larson of Framingham Massachusetts, brother Gerald Swanick of Houston Texas, husband George Lane, daughter Eileen Bagatta and son Kevin Lane.

She will be missed greatly but remembered with fondness and warmth for she left a mark on so many lives and she touched so many people throughout her long life.A Memorial Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Sat., Feb. 20, 2016 at 10 am in Our Lady of Peace Church in Fords, NJ. Burial of her cremains will be at a later date. Arrangements are under the care of the Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston.
