Holliston-Norman Joseph Gallagher, 83, of Holliston, passed away Sunday, December 30, 2018. Born in Brighton, he was the son of the late Grace (Carl) and Norman F. Gallagher. He was the husband of Rose Marie (Parrella) Gallagher of Holliston.Norman was a graduate of St. Patrick’s High School in Watertown and Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served in Korea. After marrying Rose Marie, they lived in Watertown for six years, and later became residents of Holliston for 38 years. Norman became a paymaster of the Charles J. Shutt Detachment and was a charter member of the Marine Corps league. He became Commander of the Charles F. Duford Unit 47, American Legion in Holliston, and was the owner of N. J. Gallagher & Sons Masonry Contractors. Prior to his retirement, Norman had lived on Cape Cod for 14 years, where he worked at the C.C. Museum of Natural History for 10 of those years. He then retired and moved back to Holliston.Besides his wife, Norman is survived by his children, Steven Joseph Gallagher of Hopedale, Norman Michael Gallagher of Holliston, Kathleen Naughton of Holliston, Pamela Grace Mann of Hopkinton, Margaret Rose McClure of Upton, and Joseph Nicholas Gallagher of Wrentham. He also leaves behind his siblings, Robert of Burlington, Hugh of Medford, Richard of Waltham, and Jack Gallagher of North Carolina; 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his son, Paul Gallagher and siblings, Kevin, David and Ann Marie Gallagher.Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 2nd from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston, 854 Washington St.www.ChesmoreFuneralHome.com A funeral home service will take place on Thursday, January 3rd at 11:00 a.m.Burial will follow in Lake Grove Cemetery, Holliston.
