Virginia Corinne Petersen passed away at her home on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at the age of 102½ years old. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Pauline (LeBlanc) and Leo B. Loughman. She was the wife of 59 years to the late Henry C. Petersen.Virginia grew up on Newbury Street in Boston, where she was a member of St. Cecilia’s Church. She enjoyed spending her summers with her siblings and grandmother in Abram’s River in Nova Scotia, Canada. She met her husband, Henry, while working at Arthur Craft Tool and Die. They married in 1950 and began raising their family in Waltham before relocating to Holliston in 1957. She was a full-time homemaker and mother, dedicating her life to raising a loving family. Virginia became a cherished friend and neighbor on Cold Spring Road for an incredible 67 years.Virginia was a beloved Mom to her seven children, Corinne Lentoni of Framingham, John Petersen and wife, Jean, of Belleair, FL, Donald Petersen and his wife, the late Ann Petersen, of Mashpee, William Petersen of Mashpee, Eleanor Qualls and husband, Kevin, of St. Thomas, VI, Mary Orcutt and husband, Peter, of Beaverton, OR, and Eric Petersen and his wife, Jennifer, of Lake Oswego, OR. She was an adored Mimi to her 13 grandchildren, David, James, Kristopher, Michael, Ryan, Casey, Emma, Daniel, Matthew, Jonathon, Hannah, Charlie, and Kate, and to her 8 great-grandchildren. And she was a cherished Aunt Virginia to her many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by four siblings, Martha McPhee, Pauline Ridge, Joe Loughman, and Marie Loughman.Visitation will be held on Friday, January 17th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston, 854 Washington St. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 18th at 9:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s in Holliston. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
