Deola Elaine Phair, 45, of Holliston, MA, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 13, 2024. Born in Manhattan, NY, she was the daughter of Eunice (Carberry) Baptista. She was married to Kevin Phair of Holliston for 17 years and they were together for 25 years.Deola was a champion for equity and diversity. As a member of multiple local nonprofits and advocacy groups, she devoted much of her time to advancing these causes, especially with youths and families. Among her many talents and interests, Deola was a member of the Peace of Heart and Exsultet choirs in which she sang alto. She also enjoyed a variety of crafts and hobbies, including video gaming, art in multiple mediums, crochet, rock tumbling, and riding her scooter. Deola had a deep love for journaling, writing, and especially calligraphy. In addition to her artistic pursuits, Deola loved engaging her mind with competitive trivia. She participated in trivia leagues and traveled around the country for events. Through her various talents, Deola brought light and creativity to everyone around her.In addition to her mother and husband, Deola is survived by two sons, Alexander and Malcolm Phair, her brother, Adeshina Baptista, and his wife, Rachel Heller, as well as her nephew, Myles, and niece, Elyse. She also leaves behind many aunts, cousins, friends, and acquaintances.Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 27th from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston at 854 Washington St. A funeral service will take place on Monday, October 28th at 11:00 a.m. at the First Congregational Church of Holliston. Burial will follow in Lake Grove Cemetery in Holliston. In lieu of flowers, Kevin asks for stories of Deola that can be shared with their children as they grow older. |
