Elaine L. Jones

Elaine L. Jones of Ashburnham, MA passed away peacefully on September 22, 2021. She was a graduate of Fitchburg High School, Class of 1970. She was a spiritual soul who loved the outdoors. Elaine or “Meme”, as she was called, loved going to pow wows with her granddaughter, living in her lake view home, enjoyed kayaking and fishing with her grandson, or playing cribbage with her sisters. She loved country music and would not be caught without her cowgirl hat and boots. Elaine enjoyed people and always greeted you with a smile. In her later years, Elaine became active in the Native American Community and participated in several pow wows. Always the traveler, she moved to Florida for several years before returning back to her roots in New England. 

Elaine is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Jones and her fiancé,  Peter Gove Jr. of Leominster, MA: four grandchildren, Steven Chailfoux, Breanna Keefe, Devon Gove and Peter Gove III; her sisters, Pauline and her husband,  Bill Leblanc of Rindge, NH, Donna and her husband, David Wiitala of Lunenburg, MA, Debra Leger of Bedford, NH, Robin Leger of Swanzey, NH, and Michelle Leblanc and fiancé, Tony Pace of Stoneham, MA. She is predeceased by her parents Gerard J. Leger and Loretta T. DeCarolis and a brother Paul R. Leger.  She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Elaine will be laid to rest at Forest Hill Cemetery in Fitchburg. A celebration of life ceremony with food and live music will be held on Saturday, October 9th from 4:00-9:00 p.m. at Leominster Elk Lodge 134 N Main St. Leominster, MA 01453.
