Ashland-Charles R. “Charlie” Bond, 85, of Ashland, passed away Thursday, September 2, 2021. He was born in Brownwood, Texas on June 18, 1936 and he was the loving husband of 61 years to Janis L. (Cockroft) Bond of Ashland.In his earlier years, Charlie was a horse rancher, an avid camper/outdoorsman, participated in field archery competitions, and whitewater canoeing with the Appalachian Mountain Club. As a skilled carpenter, he also assisted his daughter in renovating her first house and built several campers. He was talented in designing cowboy boots and making custom western shirts. He also loved country music and had the unique ability to yodel.In addition to his wife, Charlie is also survived by two children, Dorraine Werner and her husband, Bill, of Dudley and Wade Bond of Ashland. He is also survived by his granddaughter, Paige Werner, who affectionally referred to him as “Fa Fa”.A special thank you to the staff at Sudbury Pines for the care and compassion they provided the past 2 years.Visitation will be held on Friday, November 5th, from 2-4PM at the Chesmore Funeral Home, 57 Hayden Rowe St, Hopkinton, MA, with a memorial service immediately following.
