Wayland-
Aida Maria Barquet, 61,of Wayland, MA, died at home on Monday, February
25, 2008. A graduate of Marygrove College and University of Iowa, Aida
was a Spanish and Bilingual teacher at Dana Hall, Belmont Hill, and the
Boston Public Schools. Aida loved nature and was an accomplished
Impressionist painter and a master gardener. She was also an
entrepreneur, having started various successful businesses.
Aida had travelled extensively and was an avid reader who was well-versed
in topics from art to politics. She was a motivating force for her nieces
and nephews always encouraging them to pursue the highest levels of
education. She also touched the lives of family and friends and everyone
she met. She will always be remembered by family and friends for her love
of art and nature and for being an advocate of education as a tool of
empowerment for children and youth.
Aida is survived by her sister, Norma Barquet of New York, her nephews
Brian Callaghan, Peter Barquet, nieces Diana Callaghan and Alyssa Barquet
and sister-in-law Kathleen Barquet. She was predeceased by her parents,
Pedro and Victoria Barquet, and her brother Peter Barquet.
Visitation hours will be from 5:00 – 8:00 pm on Friday, February 29, 2008
at the Chesmore Funeral Home 854 Washington St. (Rt 126) Holliston.
