Holliston- Leonard Albert Levasseur Sr., 79, a Holliston resident for over 47 years, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on October 10, 2012. Born in Fall River, MA. He was the son of the late Pierre Joseph and Eglantine (Jarry) Levasseur. He was the devoted husband of Anna L. (Silvia) with whom he shared 56 years of marriage. Leonard graduated from Msgr. Prevost High School in Fall River. He then went on to graduate from UMass Dartmouth (formerly Bradford Durfee College of Technology) in 1961, with a Bachelor of Science degree. He was awarded a teaching fellowship in Chemistry at Northeastern University, where he graduated in 1964 with a Master of Science degree. Leonard entered the Army during the Korean Conflict in 1953, and was honorably discharged in 1961. Leonard had a long and distinguished career as a Scientist at the U.S. Army Natick Laboratories for Research and Development from 1964-1997. He also worked part-time for over 20 years at the MetroWest Medical Center as a blood bank technician. Leonard was a devoted member of St. Mary’s Parish, Holliston, and had willingly served on many committees including; the first elected president of the St. Mary’s Parish Council; and a member of the Center Building Committee, which is the St. Mary’s Education Center. When his children were young he coached sports and volunteered with the Boy Scouts. He married Ann in 1956 and together began a love story that would last for 56 years. Together, Len and Ann have 5 devoted sons: Leonard A. Jr. of Lowell, Mass.; Lawrence and wife Kandy of Hancock, Maryland; Lindsay and wife Debra of Las Vegas, Nevada; Louis and wife Suzanne of Duxbury, Mass.; and Lance and Lisa of Malden, Mass. The Levasseur family would also like to recognize all those who lovingly cared in many ways, and prayed for us during this difficult journey. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 14, 2012 from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston, 854 Washington St. www.ChesmoreFuneralHome.com A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00a.m. on Monday, October 15, at St. Mary’s Church of Holliston, Washington St. Burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial gifts be sent to St. Mary’s Parish Fund, Kid-Start, Inc., or the Danforth Museum of Art, Framingham, MA. |
