Holliston- Charles served in the US Navy and is a veteran of the Korean War. After the service, he started as a driver for the SS Pennock Wholesale Florist Co, and worked his way to General Manager of the Waltham site and member of the company’s Board of Directors. Working together at Pennock, and members of their bowling team, Charles and Rose Marie Scelfo were married on January 22, 1955; sharing their lives together for 56 years, until her death in July 2011.They were blessed with and are survived by four children: Lucyellen, and her husband Joe Curtsinger, Roseann and her husband Bryan Costello, Charlie and his wife Mary Ann Dahlgren, and Joseph and his wife, Eileen Dahlgren. The love of their children extended to their eight grandchildren: Sandra and her husband Justin Eckelman, Steven and Kevin Costello, Caroline, Michael, Erik and Scott Dahlgren and Jacqueline Curtsinger; and treasured their great-grandchildren: Parker, Brooke and Colby Eckelman. Charles cherished his family, and with his wife Rose, were active members at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where they were in the Couple’s Club, and he served as an Usher at the 7:30 mass for years. Charles had also been the Treasurer of the Holy Name Society at St. James Catholic Church in Newark, NJ. Charles was involved in his children’s lives in Scouting and Little League. Most recently he worked as a volunteer at the Holliston Pantry Shelf. Charles will be missed, but he has joined the love of his life in heaven. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 22, from 4-7pm at the Chesmore Funeral Home, 854 Washington St,www.chesmorefuneralhome.com A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, April 23 at 10:30am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Holliston; followed by burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Holliston.
