Holliston- Helen Reilly, 83, died on January 10th at Medway Country Manor where she had resided for several months. Mrs. Reilly was the widow of Edward J. Reilly, longtime executive director of South-West Middlesex United Way, formerly the Framingham-Ashland United Fund. She leaves a son, E. Steven Reilly of Ashland, a daughter, Anne Hort of Hastings-on Hudson, NY, and Ridgefield, CT, three grandchildren, Benjamin and Daniel Hort and Katherine Hort Clement, and six great-grandchildren, Vivian, Eleanor, William, Jacob, Zoe, and Edward. Mrs. Reilly was born in Cambridge, MA, to Ernest and Anna (Rosenquist) Regner, and she attended the Longfellow Elementary and Cambridge High and Latin Schools. Mr. and Mrs. Reilly lived in Arlington, MA, relocating to Holliston in 1960. In 1984 they moved to Milford, occupying the house owned at one time by Mabel Bragg, author of the children’s classic, “The Little Engine that Could.” Mrs. Reilly was a talented seamstress and craftsperson. In addition to constructing dollhouses, miniature rooms and furniture, Mrs. Reilly assembled an extensive collection of antique dolls. She was a member of the Holliston First Congregational Church where she had been a member of Mary E. Wells and the Tuesday Morning Club. The family will receive visitors at the Chesmore Funeral Home, Washington Street, Holliston, on Saturday, January 12, 2008 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. | |
