Holliston-

Winnifred Gies, 90, of Holliston, passed away July 28, 2016. Born in Bellingham, MA, she was the daughter of the late Jennie (Brown) and John Tyndall. She was the beloved wife of Edwin Gies of Holliston.

Winnifred was a graduate of the U. S. Cadet Nurse Corp from Newton Wellesley, which began her 34 year career as a Nurse at Framingham Union Hospital. She was also a Holliston School Nurse. She expressed her love through her art, poetry, and her compassionate commitment to her family and friends.

Besides her husband, she is survived by her children, Adrianne Orgettas and her husband Dominic of Burlington, Jane Petercuskie of Greensboro, VT, Judith Brown and her husband Eric of North Attleboro, Steven Gies and his wife Rene of Northbridge; her niece, Deborah Pourali as well as 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. The youngest of 10 children, she is predeceased by four sisters, and five brothers.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 31st from 4-7p.m. at the Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston, 854 Washington St. (Rt. 16) www.ChesmoreFuneralHome.com A funeral service will take place on Monday, August 1st at 9:00a.m. at Pilgrim Church, 25 South Main St. Sherborn. Burial will follow in Lake Grove Cemetery, Highland St. Holliston. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dana Farber Cancer Inst. P.O. Box 849168 Boston, MA 02284 or dana-farber.org
