Holliston-

William R. Shearer, 81, of Holliston, died February 16, 2009 at the Umass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester. Born in Framingham, he was the son of the late William and Isabell (Daley) Shearer. He was the husband of 54 years to Shirley J. (Randall) Shearer of Holliston.

A Holliston resident since 1954, and a Navy veteran, he was good with his hands and enjoyed wood working and making furniture for his children. He enjoyed traveling, especially to Florida as well as going out to eat. He loved his family and grandchildren, and provided anything they needed. William had worked 25 years each for Roxbury Carpet and Felters in Milbury.

He is survived by 2 sons, Eric E. Shearer and his wife Ann of Uxbridge, William R. Shearer and his wife Jan of Upton, 1 daughter, Linda Whiting and her husband Paul of Holliston, 1 sister, Norma Dupuis and her husband Joseph of Framingham. He also leaves behind 4 grandchildren, Lisa, Paul, Sadie, and Jeremy. He is predeceased by a sister, Helen McLean.

A funeral home service will be held on Friday, February 20, 2009 at 11:30a.m. with Rev. David Fountain. Visitation will take place prior to the funeral service from 10-11a.m. at the Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston, 854 Washington St. (Rt. 16) www.ChesmoreFuneralHome.com Burial will follow at Lake Grove Cemetery in Holliston. Donations may be made to the Congregational Church of Holliston, 725 Washington St. Holliston, MA. 01746 or to the charity of one’s choice.
