William C. Miller, 85, of Hopedale and formerly of Holliston and Blackstone, died Monday, January 5, 2009 at the Rose Monahan Hospice Home in Worcester. Born in Cambridge, he was the son of the late John and Ann (Colby) Miller. He is predeceased by his devoted wife, Frances R. (Lawless) Miller who passed in March 2004.

A U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, he was awarded a Bronze Star with two (2) oak leaf clusters, and received a Purple Heart during his participation in the Battle of the Bulge. He retired from the MBTA and was a member of the American Legion in Holliston.

He is survived by his four children, Kenneth Miller of Oxford, Donna Ryan of Northbridge, Jane McKinnon of Holliston, and Darlene Moore of California, 1 brother, Paul Miller of N.H., 3 sisters, June Powers of Sterling, Dorothy Kiernan of Lowell, and Marion Pelletier of FL. He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren, as well as many great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by 2 brothers, Kenneth and Robert.

Vistiation will take place on Monday, January 12, 2009 from 5-7p.m. at the Chesmore Funeral Home, 854 Washington St. www.ChesmoreFuneralHome.com A funeral home service will take place on Tuesday at 11:00a.m. Burial will follow at Lake Grove Cemetery in Holliston.
