William A. Gardner, Jr. (Bill) passed away peacefully on December 13, 2016 at home in Holliston, after a long illness. He recently celebrated his 86th birthday. He was the loving husband of Barbara (Gross) Gardner, his wife of 53 years, and beloved father to his children Carrie Hosozawa and her husband Cal, Elizabeth Gardner and her husband Michael Chandler, and William III and his wife Angela. He adored his six grandchildren Madison Bright, Brooke Gardner, Will Gardner, Luke Hosozawa, Lucy Gardner and Gudeta Chandler Gardner. He is survived by his sister Norma Morrill of Center Tuftonboro, New Hampshire and many nieces and nephews.
Born in Boston, MA, Bill graduated from the Peddie School in Hightstown, New Jersey and Colby College and attended Boston University Law School. He attended Flight School and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He worked for Polaroid Corporation during its early years and was a salesman for various industries throughout his career, selling security, printing and digital equipment. After his retirement, he drove cars for Enterprise Rent-A-Car and enjoyed the camaraderie of his fellow drivers.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 16th from 4-8p.m. at the Chesmore Funeral Home, 854 Washington St. Holliston. A funeral service will be held Saturday, December 17th at 11 AM at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, 1162 Highland St, Holliston.
