Walter “D” Robbins Jr., 74 , of Holliston, passed away Saturday, January 10, 2015 after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Born in Framingham, he was the son of the late Caroline “Lena” (Trotta) Robbins and Walter L. Robbins Sr.
After high school graduation, D joined the U.S. Army and served in Korea for several years until his honorable discharge. He then opened Studio “D” in Holliston until his retirement in 2006. He was a member of the Housing Authority, the Prison Ministry of Bethany, St. Mary’s Church of Holliston, American Legion and was recently appointed treasurer of Lake Grove Cemetery.
He is survived by two sisters, Joan Marie Marsell and her husband Larry of Holliston, Carol Ann Clancy of NY; his nephews and nieces, Larry Jr., John and Dianne Marsell, Daniel Jr, Michael, Brian, and Caroline Clancy; and Johanna O’Brien as well as several great nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother-in-law Daniel F. Clancy.
A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, January 15th at 11:00a.m. at St. Mary’s Church of Holliston. Burial will be held with family at a later date. The family requests that no flowers be sent, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, stjude.org or to Holliston Food Pantry, 23 Water St. Holliston, MA 01746.
