Framingham-

Virginia Martinez, 79, of Framingham, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 with her son and eldest granddaughter by her side; as well as her wonderful caregivers at Mary Ann Morse. Born in Guayama, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Carmen and Domingo Rivera. She was the wife of the late Felix Martinez. 

Virginia’s love and pride for her Boston Red Sox was like no other, but paled in comparison to that of her family. She is survived by her youngest son, Jesus Rivera of Framingham; her granddaughter, Alisa (Rodriguez) Ayres, grandson Jesus Rivera, Jr., grandson Manuel Rivera and youngest granddaughter, Maya Rivera.

Virginia was devout in her faith and love of God and that faith remained strong even in her last days. Virginia leaves a lifetime of wonderful memories to all of her remaining siblings, nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Her presence and humor is strongly missed, but we are at peace knowing she is no longer dealing with declining health.

Funeral services are being held privately and are under the care of the Chesmore Funeral Home of Hopkinton.  A Mass in Virginia’s name will be said on Saturday, March 12th at 7:30 PM at Saint Mary’s Church of Holliston.
