Vera Korkmaz, 73, of Stow, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at Emerson Hospital. Born in Šoštanj, Slovenia, she was the daughter of the late Vera (Jablansek) and Alojz Javornik.

Vera was a brilliant woman who spoke five languages, loved to laugh, and lived to have fun. She was a very talented seamstress who enjoyed making beautiful draperies and fun Halloween costumes for her two children. She loved being social and around good people, enjoyed traveling adventures, loved to dance, found serenity in gardening, and took pleasure in birdwatching, painting, and drawing. She was an excellent hostess who enjoyed bringing family and friends together for delicious home-cooked meals and great company. In both good and trying times, Vera shined bright with great courage, strength, and resilience. Vera cherished her life’s work as a loving mother and grandmother and most of all, loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren.

Vera is survived by her children, Teoman and Filiz Korkmaz both of Holliston, her longtime partner, Stephen Johnson; her siblings, Alojz Javornik (Ane) of Munich, Germany, Marica Lozi? (Saša) of Velenje, Slovenia, Janez Javornik (Kitty) of Melbourne, Australia, Jože Javornik (Janja) of Gaberke, Slovenia; nieces and nephews, Anita Lozi?, Andrej Lozi? (Valerija), Klavdija Javornik-Jurac (Dejan Jurac), Alida Javornik, and David Javornik (Tina Lenart). She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Dylan Wright, and Maya Korkmaz. She is predeceased by her former husband, Baha Korkmaz.

Funeral services are being held privately and are under the care of the Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston. A celebration of life will be held on July 16th, 2023 at the Holliston Historical Society.
