Mr. Thomas “Tom” and “Larry” Cunniff, 77, of Concord St, Holliston, died on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at his home. He was the loving husband of Jeannette (LeBlanc) Cunniff, with whom he shared over 50 years of a blessed and joyful marriage. Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Thomas and Mabel (Strang) Cunniff.

He graduated from Rockland High School, Class of 1952. Tom served in the US Army during the Korean War era, serving in Korea, and continued to serve in the US Army Reserves until the end of 1961, when he earned the Korean Service Medal. Tom graduated from UMASS Lowell in 1962. He was employed as a Mechanical Engineer at the US Army Natick Laboratories for Research and Development for over 37 years, until he retired in 1996. After retiring, he enjoyed working at the Holliston True Value Hardware Store. Tom liked fixing broken things and home improvement projects and was a hero to his grandchildren when fixing their broken toys. He was a volunteer with the Knights of Columbus and belonged to several railroad clubs as he had a passion for trolley cars and train engines.

He was a loving father and father-in-law of Daniel and Angela Cunniff, Mary (Cunniff) and Stephen Bennion, Michelle and Michael Cunniff and Kathleen and Peter Goudreau; a warmly admired “Grandpa” to his grandchildren, Ryan Cunniff, Kelsey Cunniff, Alexandra Bennion, Adam Bennion, Shannon Cunniff and Josh Cunniff. In addition to his wife, “Larry” was a brother and brother-in-law to Bernard and Nancy Cunniff, Dorothy and Robert North, Carolyn Zacchini and the late Joseph Zacchini, and Catherine and Thomas Bigelow. “Uncle Tom” was a kind and caring man to his many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 19, 2012 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston, 854 Washington St. www.ChesmoreFuneralHome.com A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Holliston. Burial will be at a later date.
