Holliston-

Sophie Ann Mark, 90, of Holliston, passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2022. Born in Holliston, she was the only daughter of 10 children of the late Sophia (Bialka) and Joseph Kurzontkowski. She was the devoted wife of 63 years to the late Walter A. Mark.

Sophie was an avid gardener and took pleasure in spending time in her yard. She was an active parishioner at Saint Mary’s Church in Holliston and was a member and former Regent of their Women’s Guild. She also enjoyed knitting, cooking and baking. Sophie was a strong woman and a true matriarch; her most cherished life’s work was her role as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Sophie is survived by four sons, Walter J. Mark and his wife Kristin of Franklin, John R. Mark and his wife Deborah of Holliston, Donald W. Mark and his wife Wendy of Franklin, and Joseph T. Mark and his wife Paula of Holliston; 8 grandchildren, Christopher, Scott, Bryan, Rebecca, Jacklyn, Joseph, Jessica and Naomi, as well as 10 great-grandchildren, Tori, Taylor, Aiden, Brady, Cami, Lilly, Kameron, Carter, Riley, and Wyatt. She also leaves behind many cousins, nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her 9 brothers and their wives, Alexander and Florence Kurzontkowski, John Kurzontkowski, Ludwig and Rita Kurzontkowski, Joseph Kurzontkowski, Stanley and Verna Kurzontkowski, Andrew and Millie Kurzontkowski, Edward and Kay Kurzontkowski, Frederick and Gerry Kurzontkowski, and Charles and Maureen Kurzontkowski.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 1st from 4:00-7:00 at the Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston, 854 Washington St. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 2nd at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow in the Parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint Mary’s Church, 8 Church St. Holliston, MA 01746
