Holliston-

Shirley (McManus) Houle, 91, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on March 11, 2017. She was born May 6, 1925 in Framingham, MA to the late Leo and Edith (Higgins) McManus. She was a lifelong resident of Holliston, MA.

Shirley graduated from Holliston High School with the class of 1943. She was married to the late James Donald Houle for 58 years. She had a passion for dancing from a young age and met her husband, Don, at a Holliston dance. They continued to dance all throughout their marriage. Shirley worked in the Holliston Public School System as the cafeteria manager for over 25 years and enjoyed her time volunteering at the Holliston Senior Center.

She is survived by her two daughters; Shirley Cote of Westford, MA, Peggy Cote and her husband Louis of Groton, MA; her beloved four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren that she cherished deeply.  Shirley was loved by many nieces, nephews, friends, and her devoted neighbors.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 17 from 5-8p.m. at the Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston, 854 Washington St. (Rt. 16), www.ChesmoreFuneralHome.com A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 18 at 9:00a.m. at St. Mary’s Church of Holliston. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Holliston Senior Center, 150 Goulding St. Holliston, MA 01746 or to Our Lady of Fatima Shrine, 101 Summer St. Holliston, MA 01746.
