Roger W. Smith, 91, of New Jersey and formerly of Holliston, Ashland and Centerville, MA, passed away Friday, April 14, 2017. Born in Framingham, he was the son of the late Isabelle (Seddon) and Sydney Smith. He was the husband of Betty Ann Smith, who passed away in 2010.

Roger was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving in WWII. He was a Deacon at the First Congregational Church in Holliston for several years. He retired from Raytheon in 1988, where he was a member of the Controller’s Organization. He continued to be active in the Association of Raytheon Retirees. After his retirement, he and his wife traveled all over the world including China, Israel, Greece, Australia, New Zealand and many other countries. They enjoyed their grandchildren and split their time between Ashland and their vacation home on Cape Cod.

He is survived by two daughters, Michelle Lee Smith of Whitehouse Station, NJ, and Melinda (Smith) Ramirez and her husband Javier of Asbury, NJ; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Smith of Uxbridge; four grandchildren, Isabel and Gregory Ramirez, and Joshua and Abigail Smith. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews , the eldest being Claudia Pease of Cocoa Beac, FL. He is predeceased by his son, Roger William Smith, Jr., and his siblings, Lincoln Smith, Rosalie Charnley and Claudia Wigglesworth. 

There will be no visitation. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, April 20th at 4:00p.m. at the First Congregational Church of Holliston. Burial will take place at Bourne National Cemetery on Friday, April 21st at 10:15a.m.
