Robert F. Barrett, 86, of Holliston, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 25, 2024, after a long illness. Born in Somerville, he was the son of the late Marie (Pierro) and William Barrett. He was the devoted husband of 49 years to Mary (Reilly) Barrett of Holliston. Bob lived in Lexington and Arlington for many years.

Bob honorably and proudly served in the Air Force from 1957-1963. He worked as an accountant for his entire career. He was employed at Jordan Marsh for many years. He was an avid golfer, gardener, and loved all of the Boston sports teams, especially the Patriots and the Red Sox. Bob was a big history buff, with a specific interest in WWII. He took pleasure in traveling, and loved his trip to Europe visiting the World War II memorials. He was proud of his Irish and his Italian heritage.

Bob loved the many cats he had over the years. He also enjoyed cooking on the grill, especially doing the turkey at Thanksgiving. He was a quiet, gentle man whose greatest joy was spending time with his family. We are grateful for his sense of humor, kindness, love, support, and the twinkle in his eye. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Michelle Hannon and her husband, Bruce, of Dedham, Colleen Cournoyer and her husband, Brendan, of Duxbury; his siblings, William Barrett and his wife, Jean, of Lexington, and Betty Barrett of Arlington. He also leaves behind three grandchildren, Andrew, Colin, and Sadie, and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their gratitude to his home health aides and to the Carlyle House for their compassionate care and kindness during the last months of his life.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 31st from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston, 854 Washington St. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 1st at 9:00 a.m. at Saint Mary’s Church of Holliston. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lewy Body Dementia Association 912 Killian Hill Road SW Liliburn, GA 30047  www.lbda.org
