While he worked in Longwood, Ralph was an active member of the Middle Island Teachers' Association. He served as a Building Rep and as an officer in MITA, giving unselfishly of his time and talents to make things better for his colleagues. He was a true gentleman and he will be missed.

Longwood has not been the same without Ralph. I can hear you singing, "A pretty gitl..."

When I came to Longwood High School in September 1984 as a rookie public school English teacher, Ralph befriended me, as I discovered he did for many new teachers at the high school regularly, offering me his humorous witty guidance. His joyous smile and cajoling support day after day seriously contributed to my professional and personal well being. i will always hold his memory deep in my heart.

I worked closely with Ralph at Longwood High School. He was a colleague and a friend. He always had a kind word and a smile, and truly made a difference in the student's lives. My heartfelt condolences go out to his family. He touched so many lives.

Mr Gentile was a teacher and a friend during my high school years at Longwood...in memory, that twinkle in his eye continues to put a smile on my face. I'm privileged to have known him.

Mr. Gentile was our class advisor at Longwood High School in 1971. He was a wise man who always spoke with confidence and conviction, whose simple smile always left a friendly feeling. He will be missed.

I was a student at Longwood HS and in later years had the opportunity to work with your father when he was a guidance counselor. Mr. Gentile (Ralph in later years) had a great sense of humor and was a kind caring person. I will always remember him. Please accept our deepest sympathy. Maureen and Allen Mannella

I had the good fortune to work with Ralph for decades. He had a way with kids, both as a teacher and a counselor, that was extraordinary. Ralph was loved by students and staff alike.....he will be missed.

He was a great educator at Longwood. I was from the class of 1990 and remember he quite well!It is not often you remember a good teacher or mentor after many years. My sincere sympathy goes to his family and may he rest in peace!

I'm so sad to hear that Ralph is gone - I want to send my sympathy to Ellen and family. He was such a kind, gentle, and very funny man (my Dad's partner in crime). I know that you have lost a wonderful father, and my thoughts are with you.
