Heather and Christopher now is the time to take care of one another. Those were your father’s wise words to me over 30 years ago. Time takes time and I have faith that God will show you both a shared journey of strength and love. Big Love. After a while you learn the subtle difference between holding a hand and chaining a soul. And you learn that love doesn’t mean leaning and company doesn’t mean security. And you begin to learn that kisses aren’t contracts, and presents aren’t promises. And you begin to accept your defeats with your head up and your eyes open, with the grace of a grown up, not the grief of a child. And you learn to build all your roads on today because tomorrow’s ground is too uncertain for plans, and futures have a way of falling down in mid-flight. After a while you learn that even sunshine burns if you get too much. So you plant your own garden and decorate your own soul, instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers. And you learn that you really can endure, that you really are strong, and you really do have worth. And you learn and learn….With every good-bye you learn.

Sweet Hem..I keep an eye out and today I learned that the good Lord called you home. It was God’s fingerprints that offered you as the distraction from my own self-will run wild and for that I am forever grateful. Let’s roll call shall we; planting Shastas, sun fishing, mac & cheese, oatmeal raisin cookies, coffee (w or w/o cigs), pool time, Spags, speaking in tongues, vitamins, Rt.9 shopping, lunch at Shirls, woodworking with Lloyd, driving lessons, yard sales, strawberry margaritas, how to hide a hickey, Johnny Carson, kitchen haircuts, frosting tips, belly laughs, West Dennis (whose weed is that?!), Christine’s, yes, I cheated on my diet and ate a burger..actually 2, detailing cars, dreaded yard work, where’s the dog Jeanetta?, Sticky Wicket, dough people, Marathon Monday, pig roast/keg beer (party naked), rolled t-shirt sleeves (Cubby), Reeboks size 8, keep your enemies close and your family closer…..oh Hem, so many good times. Be sure to say hi to those we’ve lost and ya know I’ll see you on the other side. This life was just how it had to be. Big Love, Roid.
