Holliston-

Maureen F. (Kirby) Kurzontkowski Burns, 83, of Holliston, passed away Saturday, March 14, 2020. Born in Framingham, she was the daughter of the late Mary (Collins) and Thomas E. Kirby.  Maureen grew up in Holliston on Lake Winthrop and graduated from Holliston High School. She was married to Charles F. Kurzontkowski for 29 years until his passing in April of 1987. She was later married to Thomas F. Burns for 15 years before his passing in April of 2019.

She drove school bus for 49 years before retiring. She was a self taught artist in water colors, and painted many local landscapes. She enjoyed going to county fairs in the New England area and spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Charles Kurzontkowski Jr. of Holliston, Paula Hale and her husband, Robert of Holliston, and Maureen Noel and her husband, Les of Upton. She also leaves behind her sister, Kathlyn Hilliard of Holliston; Tom’s children, Patricia Burns, Stephen Burns, Colleen Jacobson, Michael Burns and Nancy Dubin; her grandchildren, Tracy Hale, Robert Hale Jr, Adam, Rachel, and Jessica Noel and her great-grandson, Cameron Ostrow. She is predeceased by her siblings, Patricia Russo, William Kirby, Thomas Kirby and her step-son, Thomas Burns. 

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 20th from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston, 854 Washington St. www.ChesmoreFuneralHome.com A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church of Holliston. Due to the restrictions of the Boston Archdiocese, funeral mass is limited to immediate family. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary’s Church, 8 Church St. Holliston, MA 01746.
