Holliston-

Mary Lewis, 81, of Mashpee and formerly Holliston, died Tuesday, June 30, 2009. She was the wife of 62 years to Theodore M. Lewis of Mashpee.

She served for seven years as a member of the Holliston School Committee and was on the building committee to establish the Vocational School in Framingham and was secretary to the former Holliston Superintendent. At age 47, Mary attended the Framingham School of Nursing and graduated at age 50 with an RN degree; finishing 3rd in her class. She won the Medical Staff award for clinical excellence and began her nursing career as a head nurse at the Medfield State Hospital, following that she served as a visiting nurse, and psychiatric nurse. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling, especially with her husband, until the onset of Pulmonary Fibrosis.

She was the loving mother of 4 sons; Glenn Lewis and his wife Kathy of Ware; Steve Lewis and his wife Marit of Franklin and their children Sarah and Bill; Scott Lewis and his wife Debbie of Palymra, NJ, and their children, Lauren and her husband Chris, Justin, Tara, and Jason; and Gregg Lewis and Susan of Holliston and their children, Sara and Emily.

Visitation will take place on Friday, July 3, 2009 from 5-7p.m. at the Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston, 854 Washington St. (Rt. 16) www.ChesmoreFuneralHome.com A funeral home service will take place at 7p.m. following visitation.
