Mary M. (Burke) Truesdale, 92. of Holliston died Saturday September 28, 2002 at St. Patricks Manor in Framingham after a short period of declining health.
She was the wife of 50 years to the late J. Warren Truesdale who died in 1990.
Born in Dorchester on December 24, 1909, she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Margaret (Costello) Burke. She graduated from Girls High School, Boston and Boston Normal (teachers) School. She taught in the Boston Public Schools for 10 years before marrying. Then moved to Holliston in 1944.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Parish, the Catholic Women’s Guild and several teachers associations. After raising her Family, she returned to the classroom, teaching in Holliston for 10 years, mostly at the Cutler School.
Her greatest joy was her family. She leaves two sons; John Truesdale and his wife Jean of Saugus, Paul and his wife Marguerite of Peabody; Two daughters; Mary Ann Butler and her husband Tom of Holliston, and Rita Hamylak and her husband Stefan of Somers, CT. She also leaves 14 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, and hundreds of students. She shared her love of life and laughter with all she met.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday October 2, 2002 from 4 to 8 PM at the Chesmore Funeral Home, 854 Washington St., (RT. 16) Holliston, MA 01746. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday October 3, 2002 at 10 AM in Saint Mary’s Church of Holliston with burial following in the parish cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice, preferably one involving children
