Marlene Mattscheck Marsh, 78, of Holliston, died March 24, 2010 after a long illness. Born Marlene Mary Melzer in Cincinnati, OH, she was the daughter of William and Mary (Havlin) Melzer. She is survived by her devoted husband of 14 years, Leon Marsh.

Marlene grew up in Cincinnati and moved to Holliston in 1964 to raise her family. She was married for 40 years to her first husband Donald Mattscheck until his death in 1992. She then met Lee, who had also lost his first wife, Irene (Langevin) Marsh, and they fell in love and married in 1996.

Marlene was known for her beautiful singing voice and sang with the Sweet Adelines chorus and quartet in both the Framingham and Marlboro chapters. She also sang for many years in the St. Mary’s choir and folk group. Marlene worked at the Village Stationary store in Holliston as well as the Thayer and CVS pharmacies; where she worked as a pharmacy tech until her retirement in 1996. Marlene was a loving and beautiful woman both inside and out, and befriended everyone she met.

In addition to her husband, Marlene also leaves 5 children and stepchildren, 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Her sons, Tony Mattscheck and his wife Cathy of Douglas, Brad Mattscheck and his wife Carol of Milford, and stepson, Christopher Marsh and his wife Amanda of Millbury. She has a daughter Peggy Novick and her husband Bob of Glocester, RI and a stepdaughter, Colleen O’Brien and her husband Jim of Nashua, NH.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 28, 2010 from 2-5p.m. at the Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston, 854 Washington St. www.ChesmoreFuneralHome.com A funeral mass will take place on Monday at 10:30a.m. at St. Mary’s Church of Holliston. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
