Eleanor “Marie” Mussi, 91, of Franklin, passed away surrounded by her family on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Norwood Hospital. Born in Richmond, Virginia and raised in Warren, RI, she was the daughter of the late Marguerite (Boeniger) and William Myers. She was the beloved wife of 57 years to the late Alfred John Mussi.
During WWII, while Marie’s brother William was serving overseas in the Navy, he introduced his friend, Al to her so they could begin a pen-pal relationship. That relationship continued for 4 years, and upon Al’s return from the war, they married and made their home in Franklin. Marie worked as a nurse for 37 years at Wrentham State School. She looked forward to special occasions, going out to eat, playing weekly Bingo, jigsaw puzzles and going to the movies. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and was happiest when the entire family was together.
She is survived by three children, Adele M. Vozzella and her husband Ron of Franklin, Alfred J. Mussi and his fiancee Carol-Ann Palmieri of Bellingham, David W. Mussi and his wife Jessica of Uxbridge; her sister, Marguerite Swiszcz of Riverside, RI; sister-in-law, Pat Myers of Attleboro; 8 grandchildren, Christina Bouchard (Eddie), Andrea Chesmore (Keefe), Jason Mussi (Jaime), Amanda Cobb (Chris), Robert Mussi (Sarah), Tony Mussi, Nathan and Cameron Mussi. She also leaves behind 9 great-grandchildren, Olivia, Isabella and Joshua Bouchard, Gregory and Andrew Chesmore, CJ and Chelsea Cobb, Jacob and Ryan Mussi; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her siblings, Raymond Myers, William “Bootsie” Myers and Viola Kaplonski.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 10th from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at the Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston, 854 Washington St. (Rt. 16) www.ChesmoreFuneralHome.com A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 11th at St. Mary’s Church in Franklin. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Franklin. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Franklin Elks, 1077 Pond St. Franklin, MA 02038.
