Holliston – Lois LaTrobe Cogswell, 91, died Aug. 6, 2002 at her home.
She was the wife of the late Edward Folsom Cogswell. During W.W.II she had
volunteered for as a secretary of the U.S. forces stationed in the South Pacific. She met
and married her husband on the island of New Caledonia in 1944. Following the war they
moved to Wellesley, MA where they raised two children.
She loved to travel and after finishing school in New Zealand she traveled to London,
Paris – where she studied at the Sorbonne and later worked as an au pair in Budapest
Hungry.
She had been a secretary for Danforth-Epply Corp. in Wellesley, and then for the Director
of Newton Wellesley Hospital until her retirement in 1979.
She is survived by her son, Peter Michael LaTrobe Cogswell and his wife Jean of
Woodbridge, VA, daughter; Caroline Adele Cockrill and her husband Huston of Holliston,
grandchildren; Alex, Clay and Chase Cogswell, Clinton and Rosamond Cockrill.
A memorial service will be held on Aug. 18th at 3:00 p.m. at her residence in Holliston.
