Holliston-

Lila (Smith) Burke, 84, wife of the late beloved Milton Burke, passed on October 5, 2011. Born in Vermont, she was the daughter of the late Marion (Mossey) Smith and Roy Smith.

Lila called Holliston her home town for over 70 years and was a member of the Holliston Senior Center, Audubon Society, VFW Booster and the First Congregational Church of Holliston, in which she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school and was a cabinet clerk in years past. She was a Holliston High alumni with further education at Stonehill College to major in the new science of nutrition. Twenty years were spent at the Holliston High School as a cafeteria manager and she taught the chef and baker’s class. Feeding hundreds of teenagers and keeping them satisfied proved a definite challenge. Lila enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, keno, writing poetry and loved collecting Coca Cola memorabilia and NASCAR.

She leaves her daughter, Sherry of Holliston, a son, David of Holliston and his long time companion Eunice Donnelly and her daughter Nicole Bresnahan, Leanne Burke and Stepson, Eric Corbett and his family; her daughter, Debbie Conley and her husband Bob of Millville, grandsons, William Burke and Michael Burke and his lovely late wife Stephanie (Bolduc) Burke, granddaughters, Air Force Sgt. Maja Schoop and Kelly Schoop and great grandson, Kevin Burke. Lila also leaves many precious and adored relatives throughout the country. She loved them all and asked to take this moment to say to all family and friends, relatives, neighbors, “Thank you all for allowing me to be a part of your lives. You all certainly enriched mine in many ways. May your angels always watch over you. God Bless you all!”

Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 9, 2011 from 2-6p.m. at the Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston, 854 Washington St. www.ChesmoreFuneralHome.com A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Monday at 9:00a.m. Burial will follow at Lake Grove Cemetery in Holliston. In memory of Lila, donations may be made to Mass Audubon, 208 South Great Rd. Lincoln, MA. 01713 or Holliston Senior Center, 150 Goulding St. Holliston, MA. 01746
